Batterys' "Dusty Hudock" foils Blues.

A man down after the 1st 15 minutes of the match.(Walter Ramirez was given a Red Card for a professional foul which he in fact tried to avert). The Blues pushed on but were constantly foiled by possessed "Dusty Hudock" (Battery keeper)

With a full compliment of players Miami perhaps would have penetrated. But as it stood, the Battery scored late in the 2nd half with just minutes left.  The lame goal with only minutes left in the 2nd half  because there was no one to cover the far post on free kick  from a lame call by the referee (one of many). Rhinos spoil Blues victory run with a 2-1 win of their own at Lockhart

Not having Diego Serna and Leo Inacio Nunes in the lineup proved to be too much for the Blues.  Connally Endozien unable to keep up with the pace. Marcina left to do most of the work up front but he was constantly marked. Jared Goldberd and Johnny Pulido both made valiant attempts but in the end Rhinos walk away with a 2-1 victory.  Credit the Blues as it could have been much worse but the defense kept the score at 2-1.  Rhinos also had help from the referee who kept making ridiculous no calls.  15 minutes into the game this referee was huffing and puffing; It was obvious he could not keep up with the pace and in the end he was too far away from the plays to make accurate calls. You can't referee a game from the midfield. 1550 in attendance on a beautiful evening with a mild tropical breeze. Felt like we were at the beach.

with “First Kick”;
Ft. Lauderdale Mayor Seiler to Welcome Pro Soccer back to Lockhart

MiamiFC 2009 Team Picture

Media, players, coaches and decision makers all gathered at Lockhart Stadium on this bright and beautiful April day in South Florida.  It was the first time many if not most of the MiamiFC players had set foot on this wondrous soccer specific stadium. Lockhart is one of the countries first SSS's (Soccer Specific Stadiums). Even Zihno was awed and commented "I wish I could have played here my last two years as a player

" Es "!muy bono" said the former midfielder and now coach of MiamiFC!

No doubt Lockhart is the real deal and I can't  imagine anyone wanting to tear such a thing of beauty down.  I took my camera an laid it on one end corner and I could see the other end corner of the field. That says a lot about a pitch!  In customary Lockhart style the sprinkler systems came to life on as activities were starting to roll out. In a sort of  peculiar way, it is like the spirit of Lockhart Stadium saying "Hey I'm here come play on me."  I've been to Lockhart when it was packed with 10, 000 + fans ; the atmosphere is just unbelievable!

Session

The mood was positive, Aaron Davidson indicated that Traffic Sports is here to stay and is committed to keeping Pro Soccer in South Florida alive and well.  All the ingredients are here to make South Florida the Mecca of soccer.  As Diego Serna said it; "this is one place where players from all over the world want to come", it doesn't matter where they are from they all want to be here. Now we need to come out to the games and support the game we love so much. Miami FC will also pay tribute to the glorious history of professional soccer in South Florida by bringing together legends from the two most significant professional soccer teams which preceded Miami FC in the region:  the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers and the Miami Fusion.   Teofilo “Nene” Cubillas, one of the top soccer players in history and leading scorer in the history of the Strikers will represent the Strikers on the field during the ceremonial first kick.  He will be joined by Striker teammate Ray Hudson, who led the team in assists and more recently coached the Miami Fusion in 2000 and during their final season (2001) when he led them to the MLS regular season Supporter’s Shield and semi-finals of the playoffs.  To complete the bridge between the Strikers, Fusion and Miami FC, Diego Serna, the leading scorer in the history of the Fusion, and starting forward for Miami FC, will join Cubillas and Hudson at mid-field to kick off Miami FC’s 2009 season.

Team

With all the fiasco about MLS coming down here this past 10 months and it being a sure thing and all ; MiamiFC got caught behind the 8 ball; so putting a team together for the 2009 season was no easy task. I must say that in two weeks time they have made some incredible adjustment and signings.  The real test will be when we play Montreal again on the 26th. When asked about how he felt about the team Zihno responded saying that right now they have a solid foundation with some great talent. The need a finisher and they are hoping that Serna and Marcina are up for the task.  I'm guessing but the starting line up for this Saturday may be  Serna, Inacio-Nunes, Alcantara,  Ramirez, Kaka, Williams, Marcena, Kirby, Pulido,  Erpen, Faife with either Pat Hannigan or Ken Schoeni in the goal.

Come out to the game have a great time and visit the Ultras tailgate party before the game on the North East corner of the stadium.

Ziggy, zaggy, ziggyzaggy, Hey! hey Hey! Gooooooaaaaaaoal!

RenierAlcantara and Pedro Faife MiamiFC

Miami FC signs Alcantara and Faife

The Blues announced today the signings of both ex-Cuban nationals

Miami April 11, 2009-Miami FC announced today that they have come to terms with Pedro Faife and Reinier Alcantara. Both players were members of the Cuban national team, when they chose to defect last October during a World Cup qualifying match in Washington, D.C.  The signings are subject to USL and USSF approval along with international clearance.

Alcantara and Faife have been on trail with the team since the end of February.

"Being in South Florida, it's nice to have signed two Cuban players, but more than anything they are two excellent players who are going to help fill some voids that we had in our roster, "said General Manager Luiz Muzzi.

Reinier Alcantara has 18 caps for the Cuban National team, and was a fixture for Cuba from 2005 up until 2008. He can play both forward and midfielder, displaying the type of versatility that head coach Zinho relishes.

Pedro Faife will contribute as a holding midfielder having played that position for the Cuban national in international competitions such as CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers, Gold Cup, and countless friendlies.

When asked about playing in Miami, Pedro showed to be proud. ''We'll be representing Cuban people in Miami,'' Faife said ``This is our dream.

Soccer in South Florida:

 Pro team expects success here
Aaron Davidson;MiamiFC
By Aaron Davidson
April 12, 2009
As Miami FC, South Florida's one and only professional soccer team, opens our fourth season next Saturday at Lockhart Stadium, the perennial soccer and business questions will inevitably pop up.

Is soccer ever going to make it in the United States? How about South Florida? Will Miami FC make it past that five-year mark by which businesses have traditionally been judged, at least until this current economic crisis? Is now the time to confidently and passionately put my heart and soul behind Miami FC, even if that means still reserving a sentimental place in my heart for the Strikers, the Fusion and my favorite international team?

I am reaching out to tell you that the answer to all those questions is yes. I know many are still skeptical and cynical about pro soccer's place in the pecking order of U.S. sports. I totally understand many of you still follow soccer teams from your or your parents' birthplaces. I am aware the best soccer is played in Europe and Latin America and that many of you have adopted a European and/or Latin American team as "your team."

However, I am here to tell you soccer has all of the necessary and active ingredients in the United States to finally make some real noise, here and around the world.

People from around the world have always wondered why professional soccer hasn't truly succeeded in this country. The United States is the biggest economy in the world. We have the most diverse population. We have the best youth, college and professional sports infrastructure and fan support in the world. Our youth, college and professional athletes compete at the highest levels. Our women's national soccer team is number one in the world. Our country is full of soccer fields and youth players.

So, what has held pro soccer back in this country? The answers are simple: the temporary set-back due to the NASL's failure in the 1980's and the rampant growth of the other professional sports.

Nonetheless, our U.S. men's national team is now arguably the best team in our region. Our professional leagues, United Soccer League Division One and Major League Soccer, are growing, with unprecedented interested in expansion franchises. Our teams are beating international teams. Our players are being recruited and paid millions of dollars by teams around the globe. For the soccer fans in this country, patience has been a worthwhile virtue. And for many of the non-soccer fans, questioning the viability of professional soccer as a sport here has been an enjoyable past-time. And, yes, I specifically use the word past-time, because that time has passed.

I predict South Florida will become one of the best markets for pro soccer because, once our international soccer passion is redirected toward our local team, there will be no stopping us. Soccer is not a fair-weather fan sport. Once soccer fans are hooked, they will be out there cheering us on when we are winning and screaming for change when we aren't. At that point, my job will be in the hands of the fans, and soccer will have truly made it in this country.

We look forward to seeing you at Miami FC games at Lockhart Stadium and FIU's new stadium throughout the 2009 season.

Aaron Davidson is president of Miami FC.

Miami FC Solidifies Teams Backbone by signing Veterans Leo Inacio, Diego Serna, and Facundo Erpen

New signings add leadership and depth to the Blues defense mid field and forward lines.

Miami, March 6, 2008Miami FC announced today that it has come to terms with Brazilian midfielder Leo Inacio Nunes, striker Diego Serna, and Argentine defender Facundo Erpen for the upcoming 2009 season. . All three signings are subject to USL and USSF approval along with international clearance.

“I think it is important to have veteran leadership for all three of our lines” said General Manager Luiz Muzzi “Facundo Erpen will bring some consistency to our defense, Leo Inacio has played for a lot of big clubs in Brazil as well as Miami FC last year, and Diego Serna has the experience and know-how to bring another dimension to our offense.”

Leo Inacio Nunes played twelve games for the Blues last year and was a fixture in Zinho’s starting line ups. He has played for some of the biggest clubs in Brazil which include Flamengo, Gremio, and Vaco da Gama.

“I m happy to have Leo Inacio back, he knows the team and he is familiar with the competition,” said head coach Zinho. “I think it’s more important that he has an understanding with his teammates already, sometimes when a new player comes in it takes a little bit of time for them to get used to their team, Leo Inacio won’t have that problem.”

Facundo Erpen is a 25-year-old center defender who brings tenacity and a strong work ethic to the club. He started his soccer career by playing for the Argentine giant Boca Juniors youth team. He soon found himself starting for Talleres de Cordoba before making the leap to MLS. He played for DC United and the Colorado Rapids during his playing career in the MLS. In August 2006 he was named to the MLS All-Star team that faced off against Chelsea FC.

Diego Serna is no stranger to South Floridian soccer- he is the all-time leading goal scorer for the Miami Fusion and has played in 100 games in the MLS.

“I am very happy to be in Miami, Miami holds a very special place in my heart” Said the Colombian striker “I love the the fans in South Florida, they are like my family.”
